MHD Studio is an interior design firm founded by Meri Hornberger in 1998, in Los Angeles, California. Today, MHD is a team of forward-thinking designers working at the intersection of architecture, materiality, modernism, and high-low style. Known for creating contemporary and relevant spaces that reflect our client's personalities and corporate brand. Our designs are functional and stylish, bold and unique, incorporating both warmth and sophistication. We've completed more than a hundred residential and commercial projects in cities across the nation, including Los Angeles, Palm Springs, Phoenix, Portland, Seattle, San Francisco, Chicago, and Boston. OUR PHILOSOPHY
We believe that good design is more than just clever layouts, heightened functionality, or elegant aesthetics. Good design is personal, evokes emotion, and has the power to transform mood. Thus, we are meticulous in our design process, always striving to create distinct spaces with cohesive meaning and story. This story could be about a great city with urban ruggedness, decades of architectural history, business innovation, and great art. Alternately the story could be about an intimate coastal retreat conceived for intimate gatherings full of food, laughter, and family. Either way we use a toolkit of color, fabric, material, shape, and style to piece each story together into something that will resonate intensely for our clients. We curate and edit a unique combination of textiles, lightning, wood, stone, metal, art, and furniture. A project is not complete until the story and the mood becomes completely immersive and undeniable.

A Note from Meri
My life-long love for design and creative challenges has propelled MHD Studio into the multifaceted company it is today. I believe that everyone aims to live better. That everyone wants to be elevated and made better by their surroundings. This is especially true for our clients. Together with my team, we curate refined and timeless interiors by immersing ourselves into each new project. Our residential designs are deeply personal, driven by each client’s distinctive story and lifestyle. Even our commercial projects feel intimate and storied, as they are designed to convey an immersive sense of place informed by their unique landscape, flora and fauna, and the heartbeat of their city. Then we add layer and depth by referencing a wide array of timeless designs form the creative works of innovative furniture, industrial, and interior designers from the last 50 years. In the end, we are only satisfied, when each space lifts its occupants emotionally and spiritually
